Your Current Dominant Body Type:

Phlegm-Dampness

Lightening up doesn’t mean restriction — it means clarity and flow.

What Is a TCM Body Type — and Why It Matters?

Thank you for taking the quiz

This is a powerful first step toward understanding your body and caring for it in a gentle, natural way that suits you.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), we see each person as having a unique body type —shaped by your genes, diet, lifestyle, emotions, and environment.

It’s not a fixed label or diagnosis. Think of it as your current tendency — how your body responds to things like food, stress, and weather right now.

A Quick Word on Phlegm-Dampness

Phlegm-Dampness means your body may have trouble transforming fluids, leading to heaviness, stagnation, and sometimes brain fog. This type is like having too much moisture stuck inside — it’s heavy, sticky, and slows down your system. Supporting digestion and movement can help things shift and clear.

01.You may feel sluggish, bloated, or heavy-limbed

02.Your mind feels foggy or unmotivated

03.You may have excess mucus, puffiness, or weight gain

What to Do to Support Your Phlegm-Dampness

Gentle Starters to Transform Dampness

Food Tip

Drink ginger and tangerine peel tea; avoid dairy and greasy foods

Lifestyle Tip

Gentle movement like walking helps digestion and Qi flow

Emotional Tip

Clear clutter — in your space and your mind

Remember

Your Body Type Can Evolve

Your body type isn’t fixed. It can shift with age, life transitions, stress, or emotional changes.

That’s why it’s helpful to retake the quiz every few months — a simple way to check in with yourself, notice what’s changed, and adjust your care gently.

Did You Know?

The TCM Body Constitution system includes nine distinct body types — offering a more detailed and personalized way to understand your current state. These nine are the most commonly seen, based on large-scale research and epidemiological studies in China.

I’ve also included one additional body type that I often see in clinic — especially among those seeking TCM support for modern lifestyle-related imbalances.

Backed by International TCM Standards

This quiz is adapted from the standardized questionnaire used in the TCM Body Constitution Classification system — originally developed in China by experts in Chinese medicine, epidemiology, and body constitution research.

The system was officially introduced in 2009 by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies.
